The door guard oversees emergency exits and escape doors. It detects unauthorized door openings and triggers an audible alarm in such cases. This ensures that escape doors are not misused or abused in everyday life – without impairing their intended function in an emergency. This prevents unauthorized opening, while ensuring that escape routes remain usable at all times in accordance with DIN EN 179.

When is a door guard used?
These devices are used wherever doors serve as escape routes but also need to be secured – for example, in kindergartens, schools, hospitals, and government offices. They prevent the unauthorized opening of emergency exits without violating safety regulations.

What is an escape route safety system?
Escape route security includes all technical measures,
These devices prevent escape and rescue routes from being misused or blocked . Examples include door monitors, emergency exit locks, electric locking mechanisms, and alarm systems. The goal is to balance security and escape routes – that is, to prevent misuse without trapping people in an emergency.

Is the AlertLatch door monitor tested according to DIN EN 179?

A clear yes and no – and for good reason. DIN EN 179 regulates emergency exit devices with lever handles or push plates for doors in escape routes, but does not explicitly mention door monitors. Therefore, testing can only be carried out in accordance with DIN EN 179. Nevertheless, the AlertLatch door guard ensures compliance with all relevant safety requirements for emergency exit devices.
