Doors in escape and rescue routes must be equipped with appropriate emergency exit devices in accordance with DIN EN 179 (for emergency exits with lever handles) or DIN EN 1125 (for panic doors with horizontal actuation). For systems according to DIN EN 179, section 4.2.2.1 stipulates that the force required for activation must not exceed 70 Newtons .
The AlertLatch door guards come standard with a spring that generates a holding force of 40 Newtons . This ensures sufficient safety margin to comply with standards when properly combined with an emergency exit device.
At the factory, AlertLatch door monitors are tested with a wide variety of common emergency exit locks from different manufacturers. However, due to the large number of variations on the market, it is not possible to test all combinations across all manufacturers .
We therefore recommend checking the actual actuating force after installation with a suitable force measuring device to ensure that the limit value of 70 N according to DIN EN 179 is complied with.
For special installation situations or changed requirement profiles, we offer springs with different retention force strengths for retrofitting.
Versatile functions for precise force measurements
-
4 units of measurement
The device supports four common units for force measurement: Newtons (N), kilograms (kg), pounds (lb), and ounces (oz). The switchable energy-saving function ensures that the device automatically deactivates when not in use for extended periods – ideal for conserving battery power.
-
3 measurement modes for individual requirements
Depending on the application, choose between real-time measurement , peak value display , or the first peak value mode . This ensures you always receive reliable and meaningful measurement results – for example, in tensile, compressive, or tear strength tests.
-
Interchangeable attachments & practical accessories
Included in the package are five different measuring heads and an extension rod – ideal for various testing requirements. 2 AAA batteries 1.5V.
Everything is delivered compactly and securely in a robust transport case – perfect for mobile use.
